To begin the magazine making process, our class was tasked to create our own magazine covers. These are the initial drafts I created for caminos magazine.
First draft
This first draft was laying out my idea and concept and putting it all together after all the research and learning through this process. This was what I had in mind originally for my cover and I didn't expect to change much since I really liked it and felt it speaks vacation time, relax and an adventure which are the key reasons why my audience is looking for in my magazine.
Second draft
In this draft, I changed the location of the puff as it felt out of place in the middle and as it was part of the "New in Town" article. I also changed the barcode to my own one instead of an image from the internet. I used a barcode generator website BarcodesInc.com.
Overall, I feel the design is more clean, feels less crowded and everything now has its place.
Although I'm happy with my design, I believe it is important to get some feedback on something as important as the cover of the magazine, since it is like your presentation card. I shared my design with some classmates and friends to get some input on how to make it better for my final magazine cover.
