Masthead design

In this post, I will show my decision for my masthead design. I took into consideration the information I had from my masthead typography research post (with more than 60% liking that option better) and used the font Museo Sans for my masthead, which match the the one I liked most from my masthead typography research.

This was my design for the masthead which is big and set out in the center. I tried to use Canva but the program does not include the font Museo, so I ended up using Illustrator for the masthead. It was relatively easy to use as I use the text tool and change the font to the one I wanted. I did this to see what my masthead would look like on a magazine page, even though it is not on my actual full cover yet.

I chose to go with black for the font color in this assignment since it is clear to show how the font will look like and I wanna keep it simple for now. My final masthead design may vary in color and may be white depending on the choice that I ended up using for my photo cover. If I decide to go with a bright photo for the cover, which I most likely will as I want to reflect excitement and fun, I will try to match the masthead color with a color included in the cover photo. That way it will pop up.

Kerning is the space between specific pair of letters. While tracking is the process of loosening or tightening a block of text. I put all my letters a little closer together using the tracking tool since it looked more aesthetically pleasing to me, and allow to make the masthead big enough to make an impact and be recognizable.

With the research and input I have got so far, I'm confident in my choice and I believe it will be impactful enough to draw the attention of my audience.
