TABLE OF CONTENTS DRAFTs

Updated: Apr 12, 2023

After a lot of research and learning, I had to start creating my own table of contents for my magazine.

For my table of contents I used Canva to create a draft for this assignment. I used a template called "White Mountain Photo Background Travel General Table of Contents" and personalized it with my image and my font, text and colors.

Draft #1

This was my first draft. I liked the way I put the page numbers and contents but when I place the picture in the template, the main element of the image which was the lifeguard house, was mostly covered by the text, and if I zoomed in the picture, then the palm trees were going to be somehow cut and the composition was not going to be as optimal as I liked it to be, so I discarded this option and went quickly to the second draft.

Draft #2

I moved the white strip with the contents to the left to keep the visual of the lifeguard house, but by doing so I was covering the palm trees which are a symbol of Miami's tropical life and I wanted to keep them visible.

I feel I liked the contents more on the right side, specially since my table of content is on page 3, on the right side of the magazine, so the reading looks more natural if it is on the right. I think for my final table of contents, I will slightly adjust layout to allow the picture to be more fully visible while keep the contents on the right hand side.
